Arsenal ready to change transfer plans due to Kai Havertz form?

Kai Havertz's recent goal-scoring form for Arsenal has reportedly prompted a reassessment of the Gunners' summer transfer plans.

The Germany international scored and provided an assist in Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, which helped them reclaim the top spot in the Premier League.

With that, the 24-year-old attacker has taken his tally this term to 10 goals, which is his best return since moving to the Premier League back in 2020.

Before Havertz regained his scoring form, there were several reports suggesting that Mikel Arteta's side were considering strengthening their attacking lineup in the upcoming transfer window.

It was speculated that they were particularly interested in securing a striker to compete with and provide backup for Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal cool interest in Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, but according to the Mirror, a move for the Brentford talisman is now unlikely, with the Bees believed to be asking for a hefty transfer fee to part ways with the England international.

The report adds that while the Gunners are still expected to recruit a new forward in the upcoming transfer market, Havertz's recent goalscoring prowess may influence the type of player they target.

With Havertz demonstrating consistent goalscoring form, having scored five times in his last seven outings, Arteta is believed to now be considering a younger prospect whom he can groom and develop gradually.

Consequently, it is understood that Sporting Lisbon ace Viktor Gyokeres has caught Arteta's attention as a potential transfer target, though his impressive form and having only moved to the Primeira Liga last summer likely means that he will not come cheap.

Brighton's Evan Ferguson is another player who has been attracting the attention of several clubs, including Arsenal, but it will likely also cost a sizable chunk of change to pry him away from the Seagulls, who have a reputation for demanding hefty fees for their young stars.

Therefore, it appears increasingly probable that Arsenal will focus their investments on acquiring a winger to further enhance their already potent wide attacking options, which features the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

The Gunners may also witness several departures this summer, with Eddie Nketiah, Aaron Ramsdale, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe all potentially on the move away from the Emirates Stadium and the sale of these players could provide the financial means for new acquisitions.

Nevertheless, Arteta's attention for now will be focused entirely on the remaining matches of the season, with his side currently leading the Premier League standings and deadlocked at 2-2 against Bayern Munich after the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
